What is a Construction and Environmental Management Plan?
A Construction and Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) is a project‑specific document that sets out how a development will be built responsibly, safely, and in full compliance with UK environmental legislation.
The CEMP will set out the responsibilities and environmental standards that the Applicant will comply with and will require its Principal Contractor and Contractor(s) to comply with during the construction of the Proposed Development.
Local Planning Authorities often require a CEMP as a pre‑commencement planning condition, ensuring that environmental risks are identified early and managed throughout the build.
The CEMP details the roles and responsibilities for those managing construction activities, arrangements for inspection and for the auditing and reporting of incidents.
